| Calendula Extract:Extracted from the Marigold flower. Historically, Calendula extract was used to soothe skin inflammation. This extract is excellent when used in an eye cream as it stimulates circulation and promotes the healthy formation of new cell tissue, delaying the signs of aging in delicate eye tissue.
Cetyl Alcohol:Fatty alcohol derived from the natural coconut and palm oils. It is used as an emulsion stabilizer, opacifying agent, and viscosity increasing agent. This is not isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol).
Citric Acid:Derived from citrus fruit. Citrus acid speeds up the natural exfoliation process of the skin. By helping the exfoliating process, these citric acids help the skin to retain its healthy glow and minimize fine facial lines. This acid is also used in skin and hand care products to obtain a proper pH balance. Citric Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid.
Cocamide DEA:Used to increase the foaming capacity of cleansing agents and is a viscosity increasing agent.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine:A cleansing agent and foam booster, and is used for skin and hair cleaning purposes. It meshes with body surfaces to disperse or dissolve oils and suspend soil.
Comfrey Extract:Derived from the Comfrey plant rootstock. Comfrey helps to soothe while improving the texture of the skin. Historically, comfrey has been used as a poultice to aid in the healing of broken bones. This extract is excellent for dry, sensitive skin due to its calmative and healing powers.
Cucumber:Derived from the cucumber fruits. Historically, Cucumber Extract has been used to treat sunburns, and ladies have placed slices of it on their eyes to reduce puffiness. Cucumber Extract is a natural astringent which helps to minimize pore size with a very cooling and soothing effect on the skin. This extract is excellent for oily skin because it cleanses excess oil, without over-stripping the natural oils on the skin surface that are necessary to retain a proper pH balance, and to fight bacteria, keeping blemishes to a minimum.
